Scribble Art using Photoshop Masks
Orginal Photo
Photoshoped with filters and blending modes
Final image with scribble masks

Lets try this again with a little more OOMF!
Please follow the tutorial on the art blog (artfchsmules.blogspot.com). Look at the student examples for inspiration- link is attached.
Create your own scribble art using a person or an animal. Make sure to include a background that makes sense with your photo, as well as enhances image. Brush strokes or scribbles should be crisp and clean (try out different brush sizes). You should experiment with drop shadows, blending modes, and filters. Create as many layers as you want to get an interesting effect.
Document Size: 8 x 10 inches, 150 ppi
Submit on google classroom and comment how you created your image.

Step One- Altering image in photoshop and creating layers

Creating a layer masks and adding more water splashes

Here is what I did:
1. Found interesting photo via internet
2. Selected the figure using the quick selection tool < EDIT < COPY < EDIT < PASTE x2
I create two layers of the figure to experiment with. On the first copy I added a drop shadow, on the second copy I applied <FILTER < ARTISTIC < CUTOUT and adjusted the opacity to 30%.
3. Next I really wanted to accent the boots. To do so I used the quick selection tool to select just the boots < EDIT < COPY < EDIT < PASTE I applied the same cut out filter, and changed the blending mode to COLOR.
4. I noticed at this point the image was a little fuzzy looking and I decided to go with it and emphasize it. < FILTER < NOISE < ADD NOISE 12.5 This created a really nice texture.
NOW MY IMAGE WAS READY TO APPLY THE SCRIBBLE MASK
5. < SELECT < ALL < EDIT < COPY MERGED- select everything and copy it for new document.
6. < FILE < NEW 8x10 in 150 ppi < FILE < PASTE CTRL + T to resize
7. I selected the figure with the quick selection tool < EDIT < CUT to remove move figure
8. I then filled the empty space with content aware (this fills the image with was is surrounding it) < EDIT < FILL < CONTENT AWARE
9. <EDIT < PASTE x2 to create two layers with just the figure.
10. Created two layer masks- one using a big brush, and the other using a small brush
11. Added drop shadows to both layers
12. Found water color splashes via google images and copied and pasted into the image- adjusted opactity and used the chalkbuild up brush and color filter to add more color over the drops.
13. Lastly I created a new blank layer and filled with a blue color. I then used a giant brush and low opacity to erase the center to create a faded frame.
Sounds like a lot but its all about the details!!!
Don't follow me exactly but know that it takes alot of steps to get great artwork!
